If it were your life or mine,
I can't promise
I wouldn't sacrifice
yours
to save my own.
WELCOME
..and here are a few things to keep in mind:
This blog contains mostly my poetry and a few thoughts from time to time. The thoughts will be entered when and wherever I feel necessary to keep things in proper order. Thoughts and things not belonging to me will be denoted with asterisks. Poems will be archived by the date which they were written, not by that which they were posted. I tend to update things a month or few after being written so as to keep current issues from wandering unattended around the web.
Enjoy...

“The difficulty of literature is not to write, but to write what you mean; not to affect your reader, but to affect him precisely as you wish.”

Grieving
We've all grieved her upcoming death.
All we can do is wait for her to pass
And then grieve again.
Right now, just the waiting,
Seems like the calm before the storm.
May you rest in peace, Carol.
All we can do is wait for her to pass
And then grieve again.
Right now, just the waiting,
Seems like the calm before the storm.
May you rest in peace, Carol.

Not Online
Supposedly, you can find anything online.
It kind of hurts when
you search for a deceased loved one
and can find no sign.

and can find no sign.

The Color Black
Black is the color of night
the color of darkness
the color of death and evil
But
Black in itself
is not night, darkness, death, or evil
Black is not evil
the color of darkness
the color of death and evil
But
Black in itself
is not night, darkness, death, or evil
Black is not evil

Wreck
oh my goodness.
you don’t know,
what it is you’ve done.
I was so afraid,
afraid you’d been killed.
I was so scared.
I don’t know how
I could have gone on
if you’d been ripped from my life.
I love you so deeply.
you're one of my best friends,
despite our differences.
please, be careful.
guard your life
as though it was mine.
you would do anything for me,
and yet,
you despise yourself.
For me,
From me,
Take care of yourself,
Please.
you don’t know,
what it is you’ve done.
I was so afraid,
afraid you’d been killed.
I was so scared.
I don’t know how
I could have gone on
if you’d been ripped from my life.
I love you so deeply.
you're one of my best friends,
despite our differences.
please, be careful.
guard your life
as though it was mine.
you would do anything for me,
and yet,
you despise yourself.
For me,
From me,
Take care of yourself,
Please.

Death
Death is a dingy gray.
It smells like a rotting mushroom
on a musty dirt floor,
It taste like sand
gritty in your mouth,
It looks like a graveyard
one hundred years old,
It sounds like silence
so deafeningly loud.
It smells like a rotting mushroom
on a musty dirt floor,
It taste like sand
gritty in your mouth,
It looks like a graveyard
one hundred years old,
It sounds like silence
so deafeningly loud.

Memories Never Die
(the death of a friend)
Looking around as I'm trying to cope,
Coming back to this strange truth, I now know,
For myself, a new future I must scope.
Here without you, my emotions I show.
My agony is allowed some relief
As I see you laying there peacefully
And then my body is flooded with grief,
As I understand what's happened fully,
Look at me, see what a state I'm in.
But it's not your fault, this pain I endure.
You can't help the struggles I have within.
Today is the last time I see you here,
I see you lying there, eyes shut and dry.
Don't worry, memories will never die.
Looking around as I'm trying to cope,
Coming back to this strange truth, I now know,
For myself, a new future I must scope.

Youthful Dating
All relationships have an end.
You break-up, you die, you marry,
One of the three,
There is no inbetween.
It all ends in death,
but in the meantime, we must love...
To love and have that love
come to an end
Is an unbelievable pain.
To love is to marry and
To be unable to marry so young
leaves us at an uncertain stalemate.
Where is the point in youthful dating
Is it all a game?
Could it ever last?
It gives us someone to love,
Someone to hold,
Someone to break our, oh so delicate, heart.
Is it really worth
All that is endured?
You break-up, you die, you marry,
One of the three,
There is no inbetween.
It all ends in death,
but in the meantime, we must love...
To love and have that love
come to an end
Is an unbelievable pain.
To love is to marry and
To be unable to marry so young
leaves us at an uncertain stalemate.
Where is the point in youthful dating
Is it all a game?
Could it ever last?
It gives us someone to love,
Someone to hold,
Someone to break our, oh so delicate, heart.
Is it really worth
All that is endured?

Death and Horror
Death and horror be upon us.
We warned you once,
Not it’s beyond us.
We told you twice,
You turned your head.
Now, soon, you’ll be dead.
Once more you said no,
You wouldn’t believe us,
You said "so?"
When they finally came,
"No way, not me," you said,
Now you’ll never be the same.
Now you lay here,
Day by day,
Your end is near.
Your obsession was death,
For others that is,
But, now, it’s your last breath.
Your time has come,
To go down below,
To what you have become.
The kiss of death,
You can’t defeat,
You have finally been beat

Too Much
I’ve been through so much lately,
I don’t know how much more I can take.
People ask what’s wrong,
Ask if they can help.
They just don’t understand,
Although, I haven’t tried to explain.
They don’t know what it feels like,
To bear this pain.
Say we all have problems,
They’re there to help me.
I can’t explain it to anyone,
No one really knows me.
Suicidal friends, death, and other things too.
Sometimes I wish it’d all go away.
Decisions to decide.
My own and others to help, too.
Maybe I try too hard,
Maybe I should just quit.
I do have these thoughts,
Maybe I could just die.
I really don’t want to,
And I know he doesn’t either.
I try to be optimistic,
And ask my Lord for help.
I don’t know how much more I can take.
People ask what’s wrong,
Ask if they can help.
They just don’t understand,
Although, I haven’t tried to explain.
They don’t know what it feels like,
To bear this pain.
Say we all have problems,

I try to be optimistic,
And ask my Lord for help.

This Time
You were never afraid of Death,
It tried to take you down many times.
Several times, it almost got you,
But you managed one more climb.
You tempted Death to many times,
But this time you didn’t escape.
It pulled you all the way,
And you got more than just a scrape.
I knew it was your fault,
But I couldn’t help blaming myself.
I warned you to be careful,
You said you wouldn’t hurt yourself.
You were too much a daredevil,
And it finally got you back.
I can’t believe you did it.
But you drank the whole six-pack.
You offered me a ride,
And I refused,
Said you shouldn’t go either,
You wouldn’t win, but lose.
Now you lay here, dead,
Still as can be,
Breathing no air,
Staring up at me.
I say goodbye for the last time, tonight.
I will never see you again.
I have just a few last words for you,
You were always my friend, through both think and thin.
It tried to take you down many times.
Several times, it almost got you,
But you managed one more climb.
You tempted Death to many times,
But this time you didn’t escape.
